It was sandwich day but I'm pretty sure they enjoyed it. Most of the
time couples sit together but for some reason the men & ladies sort of
split off from each other. The German couple (engaged, will be married
next spring) sat next to each other and fielded a lot of questions on
various topics. He also gave us a bit a concert near the end--classical
piano.

-> Should have seen him today--he came into the room where we eat balancing
-> his sandwich plate, a bag of chips, a plate of salad, another one of
-> dessert, napkins, fork, and carrying his drink between his teeth. One
-> lady commented something about a UPS man not wanting to make 2 trips but
-> it was quite the balancing act.

 RH> It's a good trick if you can pull it off.  I don't even try. Never

I wouldn't try that much but having worked one summer as a waitress, I
understood his balancing. Just wished I'd had my phone handy to get a
picture.

-> I got some at Trader Joe's, more at Whole Foods. Steve got some walnuts,

Actually I got some of those at WF, not a large package, but enough to
keep me happy, especially if I ration them out. Not the garlic & onion
ones we'd get in HI but they'll do.

-> Sounds like the idea of a lift is more and more enticing.

 RH> Yeah well. We'd  need an upgraded staircase for that.  And a bigger

They can fit on narrow stairways but don't know what the requirements
are for installation. My dad had debated putting one in to their
basement but I guess decided not to. The stairs are rough finished but
would probably support it if he wanted to put one in.

-> And he's getting faster on his feet as his back heals. He's hoping that
-> the doctor will let him either ease off on wearing the brace or let him

 RH> Him and me both.  How's stuff healing?  I'd imagine the brace is

The brace is annoying, and was quite hot out west. From what I can tell,
he's healing OK but I'm not the expert there. He's a lot more limber
than he was a few months ago.
