It can be a handy item in the kitchen...  potentially, anyway... ;)

That's probably even worse than pressure cooked... at least the pressure
helped to moisten things...

Our beef stew was stew beef, carrots, potatoes, canned tomatoes, and
various spices/herbs like onions, parsley, salt/pepper, bay leaf... more
potatoes, carrots and/or water were the usual extenders for us... We'd
often have bread to soak up the juices, though...

Your brother might have to schedule doctor appointments for when he is
available to go with your dad...  unless the helper can be that advocate
instead... it does take some trust to open up in front of others,
though.  Whoever goes might have to bring up some things with the
doctor, in any case... I found that to be increasingly the case with the
people I was taking... and somewhat with my mom, now...
