A lot of the "extras" (art, music, languages) that were taught in public
schools in my days have been taken out to concentrate on math, science,
etc. They're put into "magnet" schools (still public, but only in
certain areas of the state) so students can get them in addition to the
core subjects. They also have math/science magnet schools where those
sujects are emphasized but core courses like English and history are
still included, "fine arts" may get a token nod. Magnets were big here
in NC; now they're being replaced by charter schools which are sort of a
hybrid public/private.

It could be a good part time job for an extended time but the pay is
worse than minimum wage.

That's why, in buffet places, there've been times I've not used the top
plate on the stack. Sometimes I've had to put 2 or 3 aside before
getting a clean one.

Yes, but I think a vanilla smelling dog, especially if it's a big old
one, would be cute.

I know, but there's the "I got this one here so it's a keeper" thing
too. I've got a number of mugs that are not in use but I want to hang on
to because they're that sort. A Berlin Christkindlmart one that had
gluwein in, is in that category.
