Where I had my surgeries, Coca-Cola products were readily
available. I think where Billy was, as well (the place
most recently familiar); oddly, we had to smuggle in sports
drinks for him, as they didn't have any electrolyte replacers,
except for pills by prescription, even those cost more (but
chargeable, which soft drinks aren't). They looked the other
way pretty much, as the practice saved them money and didn't
harm the patients: they even allowed a beer a day to be brought
in, but as Billy was a big guy we brought the allowance and
smuggled in two more for each allowable one.

I'll be taking the annual trip of a lifetime with stops in
Montreal, Zurich, Singapore, and Seoul in November, returning
to play enough concerts with my regular December groups, the
regular clients I chose to keep, to pay for a plane ticket
back, and then continuing the trip to Thailand. During most
of that time I'll continue to have access to the echo.

I plan on keeping up this pattern of behavior until death do
us part or the money runs out.

Eulachon in Sea Lettuce, Makah Indian Style

Use Porphyra (various species) or substitute with various
species of Ulva, Monostroma, or Porphyra.

Since the Porphyras were also called sea lettuce by many
Indian tribes, it is hard to reconstruct historical recipes.
The genus most tender at any given season should be the
one used in cooking.

Eulachon (candlefish) is an extremely oily West Coast fish.
Traveling in schools, it can be scooped up in a net while
you are standing knee-high in the sea.

Soak the fish for about 2 hr in 4 parts salt water to 1 part
vinegar. Add garlic or spices to the solution if desired.
Dry the fish thoroughly and wrap it in a piece of sea lettuce.
Dip in batter for frying or deep fry without batter.
