I know of at least one somewhat like that from my high school class.

Just other expectations, no doubt...  :)

Since expectations often are drawn from one's (often meager at that
point) experience (generally one's own parents or friends'), sometimes
the compromise makes better sense when one thinks it through...

I'm sure that it makes some difference how the two develop as they
continue to mature (or don't)... whether they grow together or grow
apart...

True...  And I was thinking more of the fact that comparative age means
less as an adult...

Could be...  I mostly remember that I got wonderfully good ginger ice
cream there... and somehow that seems to have knocked the name right out
of the memory banks..  ;)   Sad if it isn't anymore...  Just had a
similar disappointment yesterday, thinking I'd have a lovely lunch
(between appointments) at Thai Taste, a bit of a hole in the wall place
but they have the purple rice desserts that I like a lot... they were
gone, and some other place had taken over the spot...

And apparently I was on the third crawl, not the second...
