=========================
Hi Nancy,

NB> NB>> My turn to be out of contact for a few days... been dealing with
NB> a NB>> rather nasty case of the dizzies since mid-day Wednesday...
 NB> finally NB>> subsiding some... ;0

RH> And I can't even call you a dizzy blonde. (G) Sounds like you're on
 RH> the mend tho.

NB> Somewhat... still partially there... slow recovery, and still don't
NB> know for sure what is or isn't causing it... possibly a combination of
 NB> factors... sigh...

And hopefully now you're doing better. We were at the state SBC annual
meeting in Greensboro for a couple of days, still catching up from being
off Fido for that.

RH> He was transferred on Tuesday, had a minor problem Monday that needed
RH> some attention before he could be moved.
RH> Mom was brought down to the hospital Tuesday afternoon. She knows (and
RH> remembers) what happened, probably because it's concerning Dad. That's
RH> a good thing; were it any of us kids, she might not be as mindful.

NB> A few more lasting strings attaching there probably help the fading
NB> memory... Good that they could be together again even for just the
 NB> visit.

Yes, and the latest news is that if he continues on the same pace of
recovery, he'll be home in a couple of weeks. My brother is trying to
get care set up, the house re-arrainged, etc.

NB> NB>> Maybe this will push him a bit more to consider the thought of
NB> joining NB>> your mom in the nursing home, so that they can be
NB> together and also NB>> get the care they need...?

RH> We don't know, the finances of that have to be considered. Mom is also
RH> on a floor for patients with dementia/alzheimer's. Dad would probably
 RH> be on another floor.

NB> They might make some adjustments to keep them together if it seems
NB> that it would be helpful for their care... Finances are always a
 NB> worry
NB> there, but sometimes that's the least of the worries...

As of now, the plan is for Dad to come home in a couple of weeks (or
so). He doesn't have any long term issues that would warrant nursing
home care so by letting him go home, it will be better all around. He'll
have someone in home, 24/7 to take care of him, cook meals, etc.

RH> Yes, sometimes I mention when I am served (and see the size of the
RH> serving) that I'll want a box later on. I debated eating all of my
RH> Cuban sandwich over in Durham the night we saw "The Piano Guys" but
RH> decided not to. With the soup, I think I would have been too full. It
RH> made a good lunch the next day.

NB> Helps to be able to gauge your capacity... before getting TOO full..
NB> ;) I know I'd rather bring home some for another meal than be
NB> overstuffed, usually... buffets can be harder to gauge, and they don't
NB> let you take home leftovers...

We don't do buffets most of the time. I've learned it's better to leave
some food on the plate or get a box rather than eat it all and be
miserable afterward. At the hotel this week, I had to leave a couple of
pieces of toast and about half of my hash browns on the plate at
breakfast. I did eat all of the western omelette tho, and 2 pieces of
toast but I think I'll do some specific requesting (only one piece of
toast, easy on potatoes or grits) kind of thing if we're out for
breakfast again.

NB> RH>> And there seems to be no end to the market, even with the
NB> younger RH>> generations not doing as much home cooking as their
NB> elders do/did. NB>> After all, the restaurants still serve veal...

RH> And some folks still buy/cook it at home.

NB> Which is why one can still find it on offer at the grocery store. :)
NB> I have to admit that I was tempted a little by the veal liver the
NB> other day, but the timing was wrong for being able to use it soon
NB> enough, and didn't want to freeze it.

Very understandable.

RH> It was good; his "birthday cake" (pumpkin roll) was made this week.

NB> Ah... that's why it got made right away... :)

Almost right away but didn't want the pumpkin to go bad.

Catch you later,
Ruth
