reddiwip.com claims "real whipped cream" but its parent
conagrafoods.com merely calls it "dairy whipped topping."

But considering that one can legally label something
"fat-free sour cream" without it having cream or sourness,
... . How'd that get allowed I wonder.

Better in some ways for me, and I've been known to eat it by
the ladleful when in a creamy mood and without my pills.

Perhaps so, but there are foods with less appetizing names that
are, though comfortable to their originators, less so to the
rest of us.

April Bloomfield's Bubble and Squeak
cat: weird, side
servings: 6

1 lb Savoy cabbage
1 md onion, thinly sliced
1/4 lb plus 2 Tb butter
Maldon sea salt and fresh black pepper to taste
1/2 lb Brussels sprouts, outer layer removed,
- thinly sliced
1 lb Yukon potatoes, peeled, halved

(1) Oven at 400. Thinly slice cabbage. In large stainless-steel
pan, sweat onions in butter and a pinch of salt over medium heat
for fifteen minutes. Add cabbage and Brussels sprouts and cook
for an additional 15 min. Meanwhile, boil potatoes in salted
water until tender. Drain potatoes and thoroughly dry, letting
all the steam evaporate, then mash with hand masher. Add cabbage
mixture to potatoes, adjust seasoning, and,

(2) mold by hand into four patties. Heat 1 Tb  butter in each
of four nonstick blini pans and cook over burner until frothy;

(3) brown patties in pans for 2-3 min. Bake patties in pans
in oven for 15 min, then flip into plates and serve with fried
eggs.
