I never had a problem with sashimi - but, then, I learned about raw 
(uncooked by heat) fish eating and enjoying herring in sour cream and 
pickled herring.

Red meat is good for you. Green or blue furry meat is probably not good

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Herring in Sour Cream
 Categories: Five, Seafood, Vegetables, Dairy, Herbs
      Yield: 3 servings

      4    Lightly salted herring
           - filets
      3 sm Onions
  1 1/2 c  Sour cream
      3 lg Hard-boiled eggs
           Fresh dill

  Cut the filets crosswise into 2 cm-wide pieces and lay
  them onto a small oblong-shaped platter.

  Slice the onions into thin rings and place them on top of
  the herring fillets. Season the sour cream slightly with
  salt and pour over the onions and herring fillets.

  Chop egg whites and yolks separately and sprinkle them on
  top of the dish. Garnish with chopped fresh dill.

  Serve with rye bread or boiled potatoes.
