Fortunately I've had no side issues with the simvastatin. I thought I 
was getting "statin leg" at one time but it was night cramping caused by 
not enough potassium (due to the furosemide flushing it out my system). 
2 potassium caps every night laid that ghost.

The problem is that they keep moving the goal posts. When I was first 
seeing cholesterol testing the goal was >200 total. And I pretty much 
stayed at >160 without drugs. Then they halved the recommendation on me.

So now, with the simvastatin I am at 67 and 28. For some reason I have 
never managed to get my HDL over the "magic" 30 number. Even if exercise 
and eating "right".  <SHRUG>

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Beef & Barley Stew
 Categories: Beef, Vegetables, Grains, Herbs, Poultry
      Yield: 8 servings

      2 lb Extra lean beef; trimmed of
           - excess fat, in 1" pieces
           Pepper
    1/3 c  All-purpose flour
           Cooking spray
      1 md Onion; chopped
      1 ts Minced garlic
      1 c  Sliced carrots
      2 tb Snipped fresh parsley
    1/2 ts Dried thyme; crushed
      5 c  Chicken broth
      1 c  Water
      2 c  Potatoes; peeled, in 1"
           - chunks *
      2 c  Sweet potatoes; peeled,
           - in 1" chunks *
      1 c  Coarse chopped Roma tomatoes
      8 oz Sliced mushrooms
    1/2 c  Medium barley
      1 c  Peas; thawed

  Season meat to taste with pepper and thoroughly coat with
  flour. In a 6 quart nonstick Dutch oven coated with
  nonstick cooking spray, cook meat over medium heat until 
  browned, about 5 minutes.

  Add onion and garlic, sauteing for several more minutes.
  Add carrots, parsley, and thyme; saute for 3 to 5 minutes.
  Add broth and water and bring to a boil, scraping bottom
  of the pan.

  Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 45 minutes. Add
  potatoes, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, mushrooms, and barley.
  Return to boiling; reduce heat and continue cooking,
  covered, over low heat for 30 to 45 minutes or until the
  meat and vegetables are tender. Add peas, stirring for one
  minute.

  * If desired, omit the potatoes and increase sweet
  potatoes to 4 cups.
