I got intrigued by this discussion - just in the interest of learning 
something new. So, I went digging .....

Daucus carota (common names include wild carrot, (UK) bird's nest, 
bishop's lace, and Queen Anne's lace (North America)) is a flowering 
plant in the family Apiaceae, native to temperate regions of Europe, 
southwest Asia and naturalised to North America and Australia. 
Domesticated carrots are cultivars of a subspecies, Daucus carota subsp.
sativus.

Like the cultivated carrot, the D. carota root is edible while young, 
but quickly becomes too woody to consume.

Extra caution should be used when collecting D. carota because it bears 
a close resemblance to poison hemlock. In addition, the leaves of the 
wild carrot can cause phytophotodermatitis, so caution should also be 
used when handling the plant.

You can use the wild carrot seeds in place of caraway seeds, 1 part 
carrot seeds for 8 parts caraway seeds.

Yarrow has been valued since ancient times for its ability to stop 
bleeding, hence its folk name "nosebleed." Today, yarrow is valued for 
its ability to fight off colds and flu. It is also an ingredient in many
herbal cosmetics. Dried and cut flowers are used in arrangements.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Wild Carrot-Onion Soup
 Categories: Vegetables, Citrus, Herbs, Soups
      Yield: 4 servings

      4 c  Wild carrots
      3    Vegetable bouillon cubes
      3 c  Water)
      2 tb Arrowroot or kudzu powder
    1/2 c  Dried onions
      4 cl Garlic; chopped
           +=OR=+
    1/2 ts Garlic powder
      2 tb Olive oil
      2 tb Lemon
      2 ts Dried parsley
    1/2 ts Nutmeg

  At home: Store all dry ingredients and bouillon ins
  zip-top bags. Stow lemon juice in small plastic container

  At camp: Slice carrots and reconstitute the bouillon.
  Simmer all ingredients together 15 minutes, or until the
  carrots tender.

  Serves 4
