I was unaware of that. He doesn't come across as any of that;
I agree about stereotypical of bad things. The Wiki seems to
indicate that he's from the other Portland, of which he is also
atypical, and grew up in Montana, and I have no idea whether
he's standard issue there or not.

I think it's clear that Babe Ruth had a hormonal condition;
the beer and dogs might have helped, but an overplus of natural
steroids must have been the dominant influence.

MOS Burgers
categories: sandwich, knockoff
Serves: 2

2 smallish hamburger buns
1/4 lb ground pork
1/4 lb ground beef
1/2 c finely diced onion
1 Tb vegetable oil
1/4 lb ground beef, additional
3/4 c crushed tomatoes in puree
1 Tb chile powder - depending on what kind you use
- and your taste for spiciness
3 Tb Tonkatsu sauce
1 Tb Japanese light yellow miso
The best tomato you can find, thickly sliced
Yellow mustard
Mayonnaise

Heat your grill or griddle to 350F.

Form 2 small, half-beef, half-pork patties. Season and set
aside until griddle is hot.

Meanwhile, in a small skillet, heat oil over medium high heat.
Add half the onions to the pan and cook for a few minutes,
until softened but not brown. Add 1/4 lb ground beef to the
pan, and brown, breaking up clumps as small as you can.
When meat is cooked, add the crushed tomatoes and chile powder,
to start.  Stir, then add Tonkatsu sauce and the miso.
Continue stirring and cooking until sauce has reduced to a
thick, chili-like texture. Add more chile powder or Tonkatsu
sauce if you want it spicier or sweeter, or if it is too
tomato-y (may depend on the tomatoes you use).

Keep the sauce warm on the stove top while you cook the
burgers on the preheated grill or griddle.  Use a meat
thermometer to check for doneness, and cook burgers to an
internal temperature of 160F.  While they are cooking, cut
your tomato into 2 thick slices.

Now it is time to assemble the burgers. Bottom bun, very light
smear of mustard, patty, light layer of mayonnaise, small pile
of diced onions, chili sauce, thick tomato slice, top bun.
Serve immediately and enjoy!
