==============
Hi Ruth,

-> -> Always helpful to have your purchase pay for itself.

-> RH> Some of it went bye-bye this afternoon. I'm almost even already.

-> Good going!

 RH> Turned a profit after melting the rest. $90 between the two sales,
 RH> and got back $135 in gold etc. I'm probably going to eat the money on
 RH> the brocades I bought, but one of these centuries they may make a
 RH> heckuva quilt.

Sounds nice; I've got to go fabric shopping for some more practical
fabric (diaper bag/lining, baby blanket backing) and one splurge--a
shirt for a little boy.

-> RH> Smoked cheese is always good.

-> So is unsmoked, especially if you have the same type in smoked &
-> unsmoked. Gives people a chance to see the difference smoking makes.

 RH> Then again any old cheese beats no cheese, except process cheese
 RH> "food" of course. Or string cheese.

String cheese is OK if you need to have a protein to go with all the
carbs you're eating. I'll grab a string cheese sometimes so as not to
mess up a bunch of dishes (knife, cutting board, etc) cutting other
cheeses late at night. Don't want the dirty dishes at that hour, don't
want to do dishes at that hour either.

-> RH> Good idea. I get this callus in a weird spot on my foot. If it
 RH> gets annoying I just take a single blade razor to it. Can't do
 that with a bone spur.

-> No, he sees the VA doctor next month and will figure out then what to
-> do.

 RH> In the meantime, off of your feet dude, at least when it starts to
 RH> hurt.

He's trying. Plus wearing his MBT (fancy walking shoes) most of the
time, using a cane when on his feet a lot and other helps.

-> RH> I break up pairs sometimes, but only into component parts. Those
-> RH> beaded earrings from the 60s, the button ones, are often made of
-> RH> pretty beads. I turn ugly earrings into pretty necklaces if the
-> RH> findings aren't in good shape. Sometimes the wires get corroded
 RH> and the earrings are going to fall apart anyway.

 RH> ->
-> I look for odd ones, figuring somebody might want to adopt intact pairs.
-> Found an interesting necklace tonight--alternating greyish and pumpkin
-> colored beads (need to check them in natural light).

 RH> Could be nothing, could be something. Our clothes closet setup was
 RH> today. I checked for anything good and ended up with some scrap
 RH> fleece. Found a really nice vintage cocktail dress, but it was a
 RH> green that looks good on maybe 10% of the population if that.
 RH> Seriously nice lace, but a small size and no label. I hope someone
 RH> finds it and wears it out.

Vintage can be nice; I've found a couple of jackets that have a bit of a
50s look to them. They go good with either a skirt or slackes. Not found
any sort of cocktail dresses tho. (G)

-> -> RH> BTW - keep an eye peeled for a small flat rate Priority box.
-> -> OK, eyes peeled--like a banana or grape? (G)
->  RH> Grape; I don't think it's big enough for a standard Cavendish.
 RH> ->
-> It might have held some apple bananas--came in yesterday. (Look for an
-> e-mail in the next day or so.)

 RH> It did and I did. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for a second batch if
 RH> needed. It sounds like they did a number on Steve's tie stuff. Why
 RH> anyone would walk off with costume tie bars I have no idea.

The one that bothered us the most was one that we're pretty sure
belonged to my dad's dad. It had a cameo on a chain--a bit of something
different--simple, but elegant the way we like most things. Of the
things l lost, the pieces we got in Israel bum me the most. Of those,
the 18k chai necklace is the one I miss. BTW, the necklace menitoned
above did turn out to be a keeper. The greyish beads on the above
mentioned necklace turned out to be a blue-grey in natural light.
Interesting combo with the other beads.

Catch you later,
Ruth
