We used up a jar of pickles today. These were pickled vegetables
(carrots, red pepper, cauliflower, celery); got some dills from PA still
in the fridge. I'm trying to use up all the odds and ends of stuff, but
as you say, with only 2 people in the house, it can be slow going.

I get mine recyled before the growing other stuff genereally starts.
Thought I'd have a few left over green beans tonight but ended up not so
nothing to put into the fridge. We used up some chocolate dipped
pretzels at lunch; they were a gift from one of the families at church.

We've still got enough snack type foods that it's no problem coming up
with something. I bought a bag of mixed fruit & nuts at Whole Foods
yesterday but won't even open it until some of the other goodies are
used up.

Good going; sounds like it went well with the duck. We hit a sale on
meat (5 packs--of specific types--for $20. at Lowe's. Got 4 packs of
ground beef and one of stew beef, then hit up the bargain bin and got
some NY strip steaks & pork chops. The freezer is now well supplied with
poultry, pork and beef.

Seems they're putting apple juice in a lot of things these days to
stretch them out. Must make it really "fun" going shopping and reading
all the labels to make sure something isn't "new and improved" with
apple juice.

I've been munching on other things, including, in moderation, sweets. My
younger brother sent a gift box of various fresh fruits for Christmas;
we've been eating the pears first as they're the ripest. Splitting them
so I don't get too many fruit sugar carbs.
