Rosemary here in Rhode Island just got a new dishwasher;
things washed in it taste different (worse) than dishes
washed in the old one did. Hand-washed are the best, as I
can rinse them until there is no residue. I don't think
I've found a dishwasher that doesn't leave residue unless
it's set for at least one clearwater rinse after the
normal cycle. Even squeaky clean glasses have an off
taste. Most restaurants are irritating that way, including
the hoity-toity ones.

Did they give any tips on dealing with that - hot or cold
packs or something like that?

Taking it slow but not slacking is a good thing: I would guess
that for him the former is more of a challenge than the latter.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Zucchini & Mushroom Kugel
 Categories: Jewish, Casseroles
      Yield: 4 Servings

           Cornflake crumbs sprinkle or
           Flaky dough pie crust
      1 lg Onion
      5    Zucchini
      1 cn Mushroom w/o juice
    1/2 c  mayonnaise
      3 tb Onion soup mix
      3    Eggs
      5 tb Bread crumbs
           Salt to taste

  Dice & saute onion. Boil zucchini & mash. Mix together rest of
  ingredients & pour into a 10 inch round pan. (I used a 9 x 13)
  Sprinkle crumbs on top & bottom. Bake uncovered for 1 hr at 350.
