I've tasted it - too bright for me, though it is a fair
facsimile for a young Cotes du Rhone (I prefer the bigger,
more tannic ageworthy CdRs). All I can say for it is that
it's better than the United Airlines coach wine (which is
no good for anything but getting a buzz on) but not nearly
so good as the United Airlines business-class wine, which
most recently was a choice of Chateau Bonnet, a Lurton
family Bordeaux (though not a great one) or Tic Tok Shiraz,
which was actually quite worthy both for idiosyncracy of
name and in the taste department. And, I looked it up, at
a mere 15AUD a bottle.

I had one of those very things, which was used frequently
and relied upon until one day it just went completely
dead. That was toward the end of the days of floppy media,
so it was not such a great loss. Now I have a few things
(as many of us do) locked onto those 3 1/2" jobbers that I
might have liked - fractals mostly; but my only beef is
against myself if I didn't back them up to a better archive.

Hearty beef chili
cat: airline, beer, stew
servings: 8

4 lb ground beef or chuck diced small
3 oz oil
1 lg white onion, medium dice
3 garlic cloves, chopped
2 green bell peppers, cleaned, medium dice
4 oz tomato paste
3 Tb chili powder
1 Tb ground cumin
1 ts ground cinnamon
4 oz brown sugar
2 oz hot sauce
6 plum tomatoes, medium dice
1/4 c cilantro, chopped
12 oz stout
s, p

Brown the meat in half the oil over medium high heat.
Drain liquid and transfer meat to a bowl.

Heat the remaining oil on medium and cook the onion
and garlic 5 min. Add the green pepper and cook 5 min.
Add next 6 ingredients and cook 5 min, stirring.

Stir in the tomatoes and cilantro, "then add the beer
to deglaze the pan." Return the meat to the pot and
stir to combine. Reduce heat to low and simmer
covered 60-90 min, stirring occasionally.
