It was in the minus F when we got to Montreal, which is
not usually so awful, except that there was a biting wind
to go with. Instead of seeing the sights, we spent most
of our time in the so-called Underground City, about half
of which is not underground at all. It's a series of
office buildings, residences, and shopping centers
connected by passageways some of which are below ground
but many of which are not - some even on higher floors.
It was lengthy enough to amuse for a day or two, but we
had to surface to get to this one restaurant that I like,
L'Express, where I had the not-pristine kidneys in very
good mustard cream, and I pretty nearly froze going the
quarter mile above ground to get there.

Both, sort of. Various countries that have much traffic with
the US have made an arrangement with US Customs and Immigration
where it takes jurisdiction over part of a port or airport. So
this was physically in the Montreal airport, but after some
arbitrary point, all the staff are US officers of various
affiliations. Practically speaking, it means that we are
processed at the remote location and then are deemed clean
enough so our flights can drop us off at domestic terminals
back in the US. The phenomenon occurs in the bigger Canadian
cities (ones with international airports); I encountered it too
at Shannon in Ireland and in at least one Caribbean port.

Funny thing is that the CBP Website says that the foreign
countries have to request these facilities and provide the
infrastructure for them. I don't see what the advantage is
for them; the advantage is to the US Government, which saves
time and money, and the travelers, for whom return to the
US becomes more or less a ...

      Title: Bahama Breeze
 Categories: Rum, Citrus, Fruit, Liqueur
      Yield: 4 Servings

      1 oz Rum, dark
    1/2 oz Liqueur, banana
    1/2 oz Liqueur, apricot
    1/2 oz Rum, coconut
    1/4 oz Grenadine
    1/4 oz Honey
    1/2 oz Juice, lemon
      1 oz Juice, orange
      1 oz Juice, pineapple

  Blend well with a couple ice cubes.  Pour over ice in tall glass.
  Garnish with orange, cherry, etc.
