Changing tables save your back--put the baby up to a decent working
level. I tried not using one, then my sister in law loaned me one and it
was so much easier. Still, not a "must have" item but a very appreciated
one. High chairs are good for keeping the baby corraled at meal times
and makes feeding easier. Car seats are big and bulky to protect the
kid.

Clothes and things for a household do add up. Also, having the extra
money to buy a replacement sofa, chair, dinette, isn't always there so
you have to consider that. We had a couple of furnished rentals, then
moved into an unfurnished house. Only reason we got what furniture we
did was that some we'd had before Steve enlisted (and stored at my
parents) and he had an enlistment bonus. We bought mostly 2nd hand
furnishings, then the bulk of it went into storage when we went to
Germany (only allowed to take a certain amount, housing was furnished
units). We also passed on some of it, replacing 6 years later when we
got back to the States.

Interesting--did they show you how to use the galley also? I've heard
sounds like the FAs are sliding metal racks into I presume some sort of
heating unit (when they used to serve meals).
