It didn't take long, and United got me to Washington,
though it took me 36 hours, including two flights after
five or six cancellations, and an extra night in a hotel.

During the extra night I staggered out through the snow
to Santarpio's, where I was so tired and out of breath
the hostess asked if I was asthmatic or something; only
after I'd assured her that I'd be okay was I allowed to
sit at the bar for my lamb tips and sausage with a half
bottle of red wine (terrible inky stuff, but cheap and
alcoholic). The tips, quite fatty, were about medium-
well (I asked for them extra rare), but the fat made
them palatable, same as at the Shaanxi place found in
a post in this packet. The sausage, handmade by an
idiot, looked more turdlike than any I'd ever seen
before, even tapering at the end in such a way. It was
coarse ground, which I like, and probably 40% chunks
of fat, which I also like. There's a rumor that the
manager, son of the owner, is trying to cut corners,
but so far the corners being cut are ones I don't mind.

Also in another post in this packet. $48 turned out to
be a considerably good deal, as it included more than a
bottle of wine that retails for almost $20 per in the
discount stores.

I've been in all four, but not at the same time! There are pix
on the Web of people doing just that, some with one limb in
each. Reminds me of one of the events that made me view adult
statements with skepticism - I was well down in the single
digits when my father, wanting a companion on one of his
pointless drives, told me that we could go to Harper's Ferry,
which he characterized as the only place where three states
met. Uh, dad?

Speaking of which, an idle glance shows that there are at least
two places where four Mexican states meet: Jalisco-Zacatecas-
San Luis Potosi-Guanajuato (I think I've been in all of these,
at least three at least) and Zacatecas-San Luis Potosi-Nuevo
Leon-Coahuila (I've been in all four, pretty sure).

I'll be in Williamsport for the week after Easter, so
we will see about the feline dynamic there. 

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: JALAPENO LEMONADE
 Categories: Chileheads, Beverage, Citrus, Chiles
      Yield: 4 servings

    1/2 c  Sugar
  6 1/2 c  Water
    3/4 c  Fresh lemon juice
      2    Jalapenos, stemmed and
           -sliced with seeds

  Combine sugar and 1/2 c water in small saucepan. Simmer
  until sugar dissolves and liquid is clear, about 3 min.

  Combine in pitcher with remaining water, lemon juice, and
  sliced jalapenos. Stir and refrigerate 1 to 3 hr.
  Strain or serve with jalapenos. makes enough for six
  tall glasses
