How it spreads
    * Network shares

Affected operating systems
    * Windows

Side effects
    * Allows others to access the computer
    * Downloads code from the internet

Prevalence (1-5) 2

Description
W32/Rbot-SQ is a member of the W32/Rbot-Fam family of worms for the
Windows platform with backdoor functionality.

W32/Rbot-SQ targets weakly protected network shares and machines
unpatched against known vulnerabilities.

The backdoor component connects to a predefined IRC server and waits
for commands from a remote attacker.

Advanced
W32/Rbot-SQ is a member of the W32/Rbot-Fam family of worms for the
Windows platform with backdoor functionality.

W32/Rbot-SQ targets weakly protected network shares and machines
unpatched against known vulnerabilities.

The backdoor component connects to a predefined IRC server and waits
for commands from a remote attacker.

When first executed, W32/Rbot-SQ copies itself to the Windows system
folder with the filename mcafeee.exe and in order to be able to run
automatically when Windows starts up creates the registry entries:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\
Windows Media Player = "mcafeee.exe"

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\
Windows Media Player = "mcafeee.exe"

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices\
Windows Media Player = "mcafeee.exe"

W32/Rbot-SQ also modifies the following registry entries:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Ole\EnableDCOM = "N"
HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Lsa\restrictanonymous =
dword:00000001
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\restrictanonymous =
dword:00000001

W32/Rbot-SQ spreads using a variety of techniques including
exploiting weak passwords on computers and SQL servers, exploiting
operating system vulnerabilites (including DCOM-RPC and LSASS) and
using backdoors opened by other worms or Trojans.

W32/Rbot-SQ can be controlled by a remote attacker over IRC channels.
The backdoor component of W32/Rbot-SQ can be used to:

start a proxy server
enable remote login (rlogin)
log keystrokes on the infected computer
filesystem manipulation
start/stop system services
take part in denial of service attacks (DoS)

Patches for the operating system vulnerabilities exploited by
W32/Rbot-SQ can be obtained from Microsoft at:

Description
W32/Traxg-E is a mass-mailing worm which also spreads by copying
itself to network shares.

W32/Traxg-E sends emails with itself as an attachment to addresses
found in the Outlook Express address book.

W32/Traxg-E may copy itself as a random filename to any of the
following folders:

\fonts
\help
\system
\temp
\web

The worm may create the files C:\FOLDER.HTT and nethood.htm, also
detected as W32/Traxg-E. This file exploits the "Microsoft VM ActiveX
Component" vulnerabilty, associated with certain versions of
Microsoft Internet Explorer, to run further executable code. This
vulnerability allows an HTML-based script to access the file system
or registry without any of the usual security restrictions placed on
ActiveX controls. For further information see Microsoft security
bulletin MS00-075.

W32/Traxg-E adds a user account "admin" if it does not already exist.
The worm also creates network shares for local files and folders.
When spreading through networks, W32/Traxg-E typically uses the
filename WINDOWS.EXE.

Prevalence (1-5) 2

Description
Troj/Lecna-D is a backdoor Trojan for the Windows platform.

Advanced
Troj/Lecna-D is a backdoor Trojan for the Windows platform.

Troj/Lecna-D includes functionality to access the internet and
communicate with a remote server via HTTP.

When first run Troj/Lecna-D copies itself to
<Windows system folder>\WINDOWSUPDATE.EXE and creates the file
<Windows system folder>\drivers\USBTest.sys.

The file USBTest.sys is detected by Sophos's anti-virus products as
Troj/RKPort-Fam.

The file USBTest.sys is registered as a new system driver service
named "USBTest", with a display name of "USBTest". Registry entries
are created under:

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\USBTest\

Troj/Lecna-D downloads a file from a preconfigured URL to netscv.exe
in the Windows folder and executes it.

The Trojan reduces the security on certain network shares by setting
the following registry entry:

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\
