I hate that...

JB> The component downstream tends to protect the fuse. (Or so the
JB> tagline goes.) You'll find it's the fifty dollar part.

Hopefully I'll find it, and then hopefully I'll find a replacement in my stuff
on hand...

I'm thinking that it's probably some power-handling component that's gone bad,
and perhaps some electrolytics as well. Gotta get an ESR tester together one
of these days.

Fun stuff, then.

JB> BNC connector on the back, with a Blanking, and Trace Rev.

Hm. Let me know what it turns out to be, just out of curiosity.

JB> Good thinking with the Linux box, no doubt! You'd want a VESA
JB> capable card for its versatility, no?

RJT> Beats me. Different cards have different capabilities, and it's
RJT> been a while since I dug into that, around the time I was trying
RJT> to get X working on one box here, a few years back. They've
RJT> gotten much better at the automated side of setup since then,
RJT> and the setup I'm using now I didn't have to fiddle with much.

JB> I had to do quite a bit of guessing about the H-V-retrace myself.
JB> Heck, I doubt the info is still on the web for some of the old
JB> pieces I have blowing through the place.

I remember hitting some web sites with "monitor databases" and there was one
heck of a lot of older stuff out there on one or two of them. I'm not sure if
I still have those bookmarks or not, they seem to have gotten misplaced in one
or another upgrades.

JB> As you can imagine, stressing the retraces are not a consideration
JB> for these old piles. The shop could use some excitement/light
 JB> shows. <G>

 RJT> Heh.

JB> There's nothing like the smell of ozone in the morning. Smells
 JB> like... Teen Spirit! <-;

I wonder how difficult it would be to take an old 386 or something and stick an
extra (!) video card in it, use it for a generator? Linux would support this,
no doubt. I know it will support more than one sound card...
