Welcome back!

CS> Now Roger, can you print what you call them?

Trapped like a rat on a sinking ship! Uh, I'd rather not. My conscience
(don't know if it's that so much as it is decorum) can be a terrible thing when
it wants to.

CS> Just a difference in style. English can be rather 'blunt' in

But it's the only form of time-travel we have!

CS> Japanese people who speak english a bit, are very forgiving.

CS> long way. So does a confused look <g>.

I sometimes forget I'm taking my life in my hands (not literally) when posting
in Fidonet.

CS> Oh I have, but we seem to not have tripped up any people. Perhaps,
CS> we've helped a few see the variation. The USA is a big place and
CS> we can trip up just native 'USA' speakers easy enow (phonetic, real
CS> word where I come from, just means 'enough' so nothing special
 CS> there).

I do it all the time because English was my favorite subject all through school
and I often frustrate my "friends" by correcting their grammar. Once in
awhile, though, I make a mistake and they have no qualms about correcting me,
but the difference is that I thank them instead of getting either frustrated or
mad.

CS> Enow though brings to mind 'at a time' and 'ere enow' meaning
CS> almost a 'once upon a time' but of a more definate real life
CS> meaning but of the past brought to the fore in relevance. I
CS> suspect most hearing it actually said would think it 'here now'
CS> (close sound) but thats not quite the semantics of it in my childer
 CS> time.

I don't believe semantics existed when I was a child. (-:

Roger
