  I wondered why they changed it ?   It became quite famous for this

   I thought it was St. Petersburg?  Or am I  mistakened?  I think
the winter palace is located there?   Are there many German people
now living in the Area around St. Petersburg?

   What happened in France, was the threat to destroy Paris.  The other
part was they split into two.. Vichy France to the south , and the
Germans occupied the parts sensive to them , especially where those
parts faced England...then started the resistance.

   What happened in our history, is either bad or good, and yes we are
all a different people, and I hope not repeating history.

   My relative at the end of his life, came to Canada, to see a place
here that trained specialists, and resistance fighters, and troops
for special service.  They called the place "Camp X" ... As soon
as the war was over...Camp X  disappeared.   He told me also the
grim statistics of the men and women that came through "Camp X"
training, and then he told me why he was there .... From the
camp he was sent skiing in Alberta...then he joined others
for an assualt on Germany's Nuclear Bomb program in Norway.

  Yes I remember Madame Curie ... even today her notes and everything
is still hot radiation.   It was so horrible to see her last 
pictures and realize only today what she was dieing from.

   Not before the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbour.  Then the war was
on..and the US Navy became a target.

   Yes... from the test from July 16,1945 to Japan's surrender
September 2nd.,1945 a lot could have been done to convince them
that the allies intended to use this horrible thing that was
via weather been spread all over this planet.  Oh well...

   Yes... I guess thats why Lenin did not want Stalin to become leader.
He recognized him for what he was.      The reason things happen is
the new leaders want to flex a bit of muscle and feel great...but
only on the backs of their citizens, or killing someother country's
people.   I always thought the UN stopped all that kind of stuff,
but ...well.. the track record will have to be assessed to see if
the UN needs to be revamped or what?

  Yes.  It is a very sad time for everyone.  Something is going to
rush in when the US is forced out, and it is not going to be
friendly to anyone.

  What about snow?  You do get snow..or not?

   Yes frozen solid right across.  Starts to freeze in January these
years passed...usd to be early...but weather patterns changed.
It melts some few days before the start of summer.   My wife
was swimming once in May ....that was 7 years ago...not now.

   Thank you again Alexander for the chat.  Regards to you
and your family.  I am off to bed now, I have some wood for
the fire, and I hope in a few days, to be able to order
a fuel oil for the furnace to be delievered.
