===================
Hello Alexander.

I am so sorry I am not replying fast enough, but I have so little
time anymore for the BBS thing. I will try to stay up to date
but please forgive if I fall behind.

AK> But it is hardly possible to fight Colorado beetle (especially it's
AK> larva) manually. It is tiresome and ineffective; in addition you have
AK> go very often along the potatoes beds and the ground become pressed as
AK> a stone; whereas a farmer imho have to tramp the land as little as
AK> possible. But now I have bought a chemical designed against this
AK> beetle. Although there is no any need to grow potatoes I do it because
AK> it is nice to go to my country cottage in spring and have some physical
AK> exercises on fresh air and take a sunbath. ;)

Actually my home used to be a country cottage, only used in the summer
months. They however, winterized them for all season, and then just
sold their homes and moved to the cottage to live in retirement.

AK> It's ok, quite a lot people in Russia have a car trailer. Another
AK> matter is how to call it. ;-) "Recreational Vehicle"! Wow! ;)

I guess the way for Russians to define what is to me a "RV" a
caravan, is to simplfy it as you did, calling it a "car trailer".
As mentioned by another participant here, RV also covers a wider
range then trailers, as RVs also stand for the Motor home, which
is like a big truck with box which is converted for family home
on wheels. I even saw a school bus converted into a most
beautiful motorhome, and a interesting idea, one even had a
woodburning shove.

This is your big chance Alexander, to coin the new Russian version
or definition in Russian of what it is .... They do call it
something else in other countrys, but I haven't got the spelling
right now for the country I have in mind.

AK> You mean that it is polluted with sewage? Such a big lake... How deep
 AK> Simcoe is?

All lakes in Canada are poluted. Acid rains and snow laden with the
stuff. Around me Lake Simcoe is on average 20 to 40 feet deep.
In the middle is the small area where it might be deeper. I will
have to get my charts out for a real thoughtful answer.

As for Sewage...well they stopped allowing the dumping of untreated
water. Only a small amount gets in now, via the obvious ways
so the fight is on to save the lake,

AK> According to my map vice versa. The river which goes through Bradford
AK> begins not far from Tottenham, and the one which goes through the
AK> Sutton begins not far from Newmarket. May be Encarta Atlas is wrong.

AK>> Simcoe. On the map there are some rivers inflowing it but there are
AK>> any outflowing, except for small man-made canals.

The manmade canal is near Cannington. That I will look into.
I got a few protesters here that are up on it. The river near Bradford
is just to the south, and north of Newmarket, and it is or once was
to be a canal.

AK> BTW the big steam engines of the late century have not yet been
AK> scrapped in Russia. Many of them are stored in some depots and every
AK> modern railway station in Russia has on it's territory a special pump
AK> to provide them with water. From one side it can be considered "just in
AK> case", but from another side imho they feel sorry to scrap such a nice
 AK> workable enginery.

Yes. Few here, and the lucky are in the museum. You should ask Ardith
in Vancouver BC Canada about the one they have there. It made a special
run to a place, after all the red tape and concerns were settled.

Yes ... Whatever you do in Russia, please don't scrap the engines, or
kill rail traffic like they did here. Bad move.

AK> The Esperanto language was invented. It is logical, quite simple,
AK> sounds beautifully. The only terrible thing imho that the polish
AK> inventor made bad alphabet inserting into Latin letters many others
AK> with "^" sings. It IS NOT universal - not every typewriter or even
AK> computer word processor is capable to type Esperanto texts. This
AK> shortcoming imho slow down strongly the Esperanto spreading.

Fuuny you mention Esperanto. A ham radio operator in UK mnetioned this
in a posting received here, this morning. Same theme as you, and I
do remember years ago on Amateur Radio Poacket operators excahnging
messages in Esperanto.

BTW. To really promote it's usage, can you believe that the USSR
at the time, made material available to people all over the world
to learn this language? I will look up the message base when
I sign in next to see if I can find it. Very interesting stuff.

AK> "BTW "color" is grammatically correct American spelling for British
AK> "colour". The American English was slightly modernized to make it more
 AK> logical.

The English colour is from the French, whereas saying it ...well it
sounds like color. But I was educated under too many systems, and
it screwed up my spelling just royally. hahahahaha.

Ok ... got some notes here, and we'll see what I have on the disk
for next time. Rivers and the lake, as well the Esperanto,
which I have seen posted. I will even checkin with my latino
friends and the FBB BBS system I caretake in BRASIL to see if
it is there.

ttfn until we read again ...

Peter
