Notice that the towers did stand up to the impact.  It was the

Perhaps.  But, I tend to doubt it.  I think that 2 different strategies 
where involved as I mention below.

Yes, he is.  But he did not have enough info as to know for sure 
that it could or couldn't have occured.  The "experiment" was done 
in real time.  That's why I think that the two crashes took 
slightly different angles and altitudes.

Giving, perhaps, enough time to quench those fires.  

Notice that the retardant is blown away on the initial impacts.  Notice 
also that the center core is struck head on by the first attack.  That 
destroys virtually all possibility of those above the impact zone from 
an escape route.  

The engineer of the operation did his homework.  The first of which 
is that the impacts were far above normal landing/takeoff speeds 
of the "missiles".  The second of them is what was a well-educated 
guess as how to set the fires that trully caused the final collapse.
