Probably 5.8l..they used those extensivily in those vans.

You didn't check into that before you imported it?

That was my dad in his latter years. He drove Oldsmobiles for many years,
but finally bought a Dodge Caravan. This was contrary to his 'buy
American' teachings in my youth, however. I never let him live it down
(foriegn owned entity using Japenese Mitzubishi built engines). A year or
two before he died, he bought a Grand Caravan, just more of the same
vehicle, except that it had an American built engine. My mom would rather
have her Olds, so the van was sold.

Four bangers are like that. When my son was considering a move from San
Diego to Denver, he was wondering which vehicle to take (he and his wife
had split up, but owned two cars between them). One was a S15 GMC pickup
and the other was a VW Rabbit. One had an electronic carburator and the
other had fuel injection controlled by a computer. Needless to say, due to
the difference in air density, my advice was to take the fuel injected
car, the VW. They were both happy with that, as she needed the pickup to
haul hay for her horses and he just needed trasporation while he went to
and fro to school and work.
