Of course, it has nothing to do with your attempt to list that which isn't
the real world of the listing. Editors Emeritis indicates a plural and
would also mean all those former moderators (actually, not all Editors
were moderators of this echo) who are no longer in Fidonet and have no
means of recieving or replying to these communications.

I can't believe, well maybe I can, that you're so dense as to list the
echo that way when the Elist FAQ is so clear in this matter. Perhaps in
your attempt to read the document, your English comprehension wasn't as
good as you think it is.

So that's how the words went?
The fact is, at first I honoured all those Z1 readers, that expressed
fear that the distribution of this echo would be in jeopardy if I didn't.
But when later I tried to update the elisting, the elist-Führer didn't
like what I had in mind, so he manually prevented my updates. No technical
problems, mind you, purely a matter of the Führer's dislike for my idea
about having all the former editors as comoderators.

JY> but I'm wondering that you didn't modify them to the
JY> accepted standards to get the echo properly listed.
As you must be able to see, this had nothing to do with "accepted
standards", since it was totally in accordance with what the elist program
required. This was 100% something that the elist-Führer was doing all by
himself. It may interest you what the following "discussion" ended up with
(the strange quoting is entirely the fault of the editor that the
elist-Führer used):
> If the phrase Editors Emiriti refers to previous editors, it's
> highly unlikely that they all can be reached at 2:2/2
bt> Unlikely or not, surely that would be up to the moderator?
Nope...sorry
cya,
thom
JY> No matter; it's elisted and so will be carried in Z1..
You mean if it's not elisted, it will not be carried in Z1? Many have
asked that question and many have categorically denied that this is true.
What's your opinion on the matter?

Contrary to what you claim, the listing sent to the EK is in error, per
the "Accepted Standards" as claimed.
[quote Elist.FAQ]
IDENTIFICATION OF MODERATOR
All moderator entries in the Echolist database MUST include, as a
minimum, the name of the moderator and either a Fido Style address
and/or an email address. The moderator name can be a person's
name, or in "official" echoes, the position name of the moderator
(examples: Echolist Keeper, RC13).
Terms such as Trustee, Custodian, Emeritus, etc. are not proper
names, and therefore can not be listed in the moderator dataline.
These descriptions may be used in a DESC line.
[unquote Elist.FAQ]
Note the word "MUST", which is in all caps to indicate mandatory.
Also note that your listing effort didn't include the name of the
moderator. Nowhere is there documentation where the FIDONEWS echo is
listed as an "official" echo, thus requiring the moderators name, rather
than title.
Furthermore, your listing is in error merely by the inclusion of 'COMOD',
as that term is not recognized by the software. Not to mention the error
where you call the COMOD - Editors Emeriti, as mentioned in the 2nd
paragraph above.
How hard is it for you to fathom the last sentence where you can list past
editors to your hearts content in the DESC lines of the listing?
To compensate for your lack of understanding (see current listing where
Jack Yates is now listed as moderator), the former Editor, Frank Vest,
listed the echo for you when you refused to do so.

Since you had no desire to update the listing, and you now claim it was
all the fault of Thom not allowing your listing, I contend that your
intent was, at some time in the future, to pick a fight with the Elist
Keeper and nothing more. It seems that this is now the case.
