Ärende: Fog light on the trailer

Very bad translation. None of my dictionaries mentions "trailer" as a synonym
for "hamper".

Actually I was curious what it makes of this:

De overheid heeft in haar wijsheid besloten dat vanaf 1 jan 2005 het
mistachterlicht voor alle lichte aanhangwagens (<751 kg) verplicht is.
Weliswaar heeft zij tevens besloten dat vanwege de zeer gebrekkige voorlichting
er tot juni 2006 een gedoogbeleid zal worden gevoerd maar uiteindelijk komen we
er toch niet onderuit. Dus toch maar iets gedaan.

And this:

Zoals je ziet is het een smal karretje. Het is 85 cm breed. Er is niet veel
ruimte over. Ik wilde het mistlicht niet op het groene houten achterschot
monteren daar dat afneembaar is en ik de beladingsmogelijkheden niet onnodig
wilde beperken. Dus bleef eigenlijk alleen montage onder het nummerbord over.
De voorschriften zeggen dat het mistlicht in het midden of links van het midden
moet zijn geplaatst, niet minder dan 10 cm van het remlicht, niet lager dan 25
cm - en niet hoger dan een meter boven het wegdek. Dus onder de nummerplaat is
goed.

Dan moet er wel een beschermbeugel komen, anders gaat ie meteen kapot als de
kar achterover kiept. Dat betekende wat laswerk.

Nah, it was not that bad. The blade was new and sharp.

What I meant was, if you would see the weld from close up...

Compared to the average person here, I have a lot of tools...

(Which has the disadvantage that people always know how to find me when they
need a little job done..)

O, but I DO have a special hammer for removing the slug, it came with the
welder and I DID use it for that purpose. In that picture I wasn't removing
slug, I was doing something else, don't recall exactly what.

Seven pin connectors are still widely in use here. Seven pins however are not
enough for the needs of the trailers we call "caravans". The towed mobile home.
Especially since the rear fog light became compulsory. So the newer caravans
are all equipped with 13 pin connectors. Unfortunately there are two
"standards" for the 13 pin connector. The one standard, WEST, is downward
compatible with the 7 pin connector, the other one, Jeager, is not.

When I upgraded my caravan's electical system, I choose the WEST system of
course. My car and my caravan have a 13 pin WEST connector. The small trailer
in the pictures has a 7 pin connector.

Hmmm, I should write a FidoNews article about this to make it on-topic...
