ZCC-PUBLIC .. a peek in the ZC-kitchen
By Ward Dossche, 2:292/854
ZC/2

As of today (Jan. 16, 1998) I have started to crosspost all my messages
from the ZCC-conference to a new conference entitled:

ZCC-PUBLIC

From Fidonews, June 15, 1998

     =================================================================
                           LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
     =================================================================

Dear Editor, aka Zorch, aka Mark Hernandez, aka Snoopy:

Your editorials contain as much fiction as fact. Last week:

Fact: Adrian Walker has stepped down as the Z1 EchoList Coordinator.

Fiction: Adrian handed over the EchoList or it's source code to me.

Needless to say, your conclusions are equally flawed. Get some
     facts!

     Regards,

     John

That was from Souvestre...

Also from that issue is mention of several echolist entites being tried
by the then editor, Zorch Frezberg, among which was the Echolist of Thom
LaCosta's...

A netmail from the RECC to the then ZC1, Satti, requested that Thom's
echolist be given the node number of 1:1/23, which was reprinted in
Fidonews, June 24, 1998. (It was subsequently listed as 1:1/21)

Adrian did publish the last echolist in June, 1998, with ZCC-PUBLIC listed
under Moravsik. There was no July echolist published and the echo appeared
again in Thom's echolist of August, 1998. (Thom imported Adrian's list so
that there was a base to work with?) The echolisting hadn't been resolved
by the December echolist, but that month Bob Satti was also listed as the
echo moderator. Satti probably didn't know anything about that until after
the elist came out.

MvdV>> The conflict only arose when a Z1 sysop (Bob Moravsik IIRC) was
MvdV>> listed in Thom's list as moderator

RW>> Not quite. Moravsik listed himself as moderator of that echo,
RW>> because Ward Dossche failed to do so. As long as the echo was
RW>> confined to distribution in Z2, that was ok. But when he asked that
RW>> it be distributed in Z1, it became an issue.

DS> It was being distributed in Z1 prior to BM submitting his listing
 DS> to Adrian.

That's what I said.

DS> Ward made a listing with Peter after BM had listed with Adrian.

Hoping, of course, that the Z2 list would be 'the list' to be listed in.

MvdV>> while it was clear that Ward as the creator of the echo had prior
 MvdV>> rights.

DS> How could it be clear? No rules were being posted into the echo.

RW>> And in this case, the distribution systems in Z1 took care of the
RW>> problem by denying Moravsik's claim as moderator. It still belonged
 RW>> to Ward.

DS> That is true. In essence, BM was ignored by almost all in this.

Well, his claim was ignored, but he gathered a lot of attention while he
held the elisting.
