Jeans offer no protection from the road. The effect is almost a burn.

Bones break just as easily through jeans...

Heavy gloves offer much protection. The light leather gloves so popular today
don't. That's why so many have "armour" (metal studs) on the outside edge of
the palm - leather alone doesn't cut it.

I don't even bother with boots with city/suburban riding in the summer (I do
wear the helmet).

I ride to work most days (it's pissing down this morning, I'll take the ute).

WHat do you ride?

I've found prevention better than cure - don't drop the thing.

I must admit that when we do our bi-annual desert trips I have issues picking
up the bike if I drop it on a sand dune, or in a mud hole. The BMW GS100PD
weighs in at 238Kg, before I pack camping gear and supplies on board.
