What is what? What Pirate Bay is doing or what Shannon is doing?

In the case of Pirate Bay, to me it looks like no law has been violated. No
*Swedish* law that is.

If one makes an unauthorised copy, the owner still has the original. So
whatever it is, it is not theft.

Yes, but it is not theft. Six month is the maximum btw. The judge need not
impose imprisonment at all, (s)he can make do with a monetary fine or an
alternative sentence like doing community work. Or no punishment at all, just
an order to remove the offending material. All depending of course on the
severity and the circumstances.

No. The copies distributed by the FidoNews Editor are found in the Fidonews
file echo, the Fidonews echomail conference and on felten.yi.org.

Anything else are copies made by third parties. If this happens without the
permission of the copyright holder(s), they are pirated copies.
