*** Quoting Roy Witt from a message to Carol Shenkenberger ***

CS> Joe is still around as a user. Crops up now and again in 'Memories'
CS> echo. Due to my long time way from San Diego, I still think of Joe as
CS> being with Marge Mills but she's moved back with her family and he's
CS> got a lovely new light of love.

RW> Hmmm, as I recall, Marge passed away some years ago...maybe not.

Could be you know more than i there. I hope not as I'd like to think she's
still well, just sundered from Joe. She did leave and Joe did move on his
life, eventually with another lady.

Forgive a slight digression but from a lady, accept that Joe is a truely
delightful 'ladies man'. Ah! Had I been but 20 years older! A scamp of the
first order that can make a ladies nipples wrinkle just when he walks in the
door. It's all attitude, none visual other than the twinkle of the eye...

RW>> As a net 202 node...you haven't been in that net for more years than
 RW>> I been in Fidonet.

CS> Grin, sorry. I wasnt meaning to be rude there or anything.

RW> I didn't take it as such...just pointing out that you've been missing
RW> 202 for a long time.

Well, that is true. I cut my teeth there but only learned about *C stuff in
any depth later. I had 'unexercised potential' there and avoided more because
I felt it a conflict of interest when I was doing the CRP job, to be more than
an end node. Kinda a 'pay me or I cut your feed' and I stated I wasnt
comfortable with that concept so was never a hub there though I fed more
points with fully operational BBS systems (with callers) than most hubs did at
times.

RW> Yeup, you were gone by the time I was nodelisted in January of 96...ev
RW> though I was around the net as a user long before that.

CS> There's a slight relation to how i handled my Z6 transition due to
CS> that. We pre-listed me in Norfolk but the NC was not very technical
CS> and boluxed it up rather badly nor did i know to 'test' it then. It
CS> was interesting getting online. He used some 555 series number that
CS> caused problems unstead of -Unpublished- until I could give him a
 CS> phone number.

RW> Umderstandably, as the 'unpublished' field requires a Pvt flag...

That Norfolk fellow didnt know how to do much at all. He had me listed as CM
and leading to a bad end. He didnt use what I sent him and even back then, i
knew enough to send him my makenl line (PVT, -Unpublished-). He ws replaced
not long after in N275 by a more capable person.

CS> least, if a little oddball (PVT for a time, then borrowed Barry
CS> Blackford's phone number while in outage with his permission and the
CS> Z3C's 'ack'). This time, no matter where I go, I'll know more on how
CS> to handle that than I did the previous times.

RW> Since your 6/0 node is basically a ZIN, you should be able to use HOLD
RW> leave the rest intact until you finally get listed again.

Thats a thought I hadnt travelled. See, seems even though I cant get a post
from Z6 members, they email well. Current hold as posted before was Lawrence
Fan but now got Tarry Roati shifting his domain to Eddie so I cant do anything
til thats also complete. Eddie is asking back in (still listed).

The most painful part is it looks to all outside like I'm making this up. Hell
no. But I'm 'old style'. I wont pass email addresses out without permission
nor netmail even if it's sent to me. I just cant wrap my mind to do that.

If I cant get a Z6C replacement going by Xmas roughly, I see no way to maintain
other thsan shifting the rest to Z3 because i cant just delete them when they
keep telling me not to at the 11th hour.

CS>> would but I'd possibly have to describe Ena/Kay to joggle her
 CS>> memory.

CS> I hope I'm not misremembering where Patrick Long used to be! Pretty
CS> sure he used to be Net202! It would be back along time ago. Could
CS> have been elsewhere though? Gosh I feel like a flake...

RW> Hang on a minute. Checking my archives, I don't seem to find them on t
RW> HDs. Perhaps I've already put them on CDs...I'll check again and get b
RW> to you on that.

Ok thanks! I guess I could just tell him I'm an idiot and ask (heck, he might
be reading here!).

CS>> Dante would have buried in in that deeper level for those who
CS>> abandon kin (9th ring was it? Gotta read the Inferno again).

RW>> I can't stomach Dante, so you'll have to read the book again.
CS> Drats. It's packed in storage in Virgina someplace among the 4,000
CS> or so books I have there (at least, I think the long term storage was
CS> there but they may have moved it someplace other USA).

RW> Oh well, something to look forward to when you return to VA..

Yeah, and lots of other stuff! 4,000 some odd books (YeahHoo!) and some cookery
stuff.
                                       xxcarol
