Just imagine this ... the Germans were already on the Atlantic coast. It seems
to me they had to stop there. By shouting "Bullshit^2" you probably want them
to jump from the cliffs at Calais like lemmings?
 
An invasion was simply impossible, not enough heavy surface units to support
it.

That depends ... it is correct that the US donated a bunch of WW1-vintage
coal-stoked 4-stack destroyers for convoy duty. These suckers were so old that
in some cases their convoy made more speed (and they weren't exactly going
fast). Besides that, they were belching so much black smoke that U-boats could
spot and trail them from behind the horizon.
 
All the rest was COD: Cash On Delivery, preferably gold.

You want us to send a bill for the 1812 "Treaty of Ghent"? ... As in "Ghent" in
Belgium?

The heck it was neutral. In May 1941 American Catalina planes were actively
searching for Bismarck after it escaped, and it was Americans who found him.
HMS Rodney had an American gunnery officer.
 
In March 1941, 8 months before Pearl Harbor, the US seized 69 ships under
German and Italian flags. 775 Italian civilian seamen and 100 German civilian
seaman were arrested and put in a detention camp. The Italian and German staff
of the New York's world's fair underwent the same treatment.
 
So the US was neutral but was picking-up Italians and Germans by the thousands
and incarcerated them.
 
Neutral?   A very peculiar kind of neutrality if you ask me.

We now know about the gold shipments. To me it looks like business ... sell
something, pay for it! ..... "Lend/Lease" ... what a beautiful name ... IBM's
selling of automation-equipment to the Nazis after 1941, was that also
lend/lease?
