I don't know if you recall 'Potsdam', but that was when Churchill was
informed about the bomb, Stalin, of course was kept in the cold. For good
reason I think. "Actions speak louder than words." - unknown

At the time, the strongest army in urope were the Russians, Britain was
supplied by us and there wasn't a French contingency, the Italians gave up
in 43 I think. Pretty much all of urope was devastated so there was no
raising of an army that would have withstood a Russian onslaught, which is
what Chrrchill and Truman (among others) expected them to do. That and the
Russians were also pissed at Japan, for reasons that go back to the
sinking of the Russian fleet in 1906 and a history between them and Japan.

Those two bombs on Japan served more than the single purpose that would be
 obvious to anyone just reading a history book.
