Soldiers do what they are told to do.  Simon says do this.
Simon says do that.  That's how it works.

And George W. Bush served not quite six years in the Texas Air
National Guard, keeping the skies of Texas safe from the Viet Cong.
However, he had to leave early to get his teeth cleaned in Alabama.

The reasons that they are in Iraq is because GWB sent them there.

The reasons they serve in the military are different.  Those
reasons are duty, honor, and country.  In that order.

The economy is for the person.  Not the other way around.

But let's get back to the reasons as to why our soldiers
are in Iraq.  Those reasons are -

Duty.
Honor.
Country.

In that order.

Duty to what?  Certainly not Halliburton.
Honor for whom?  Certainly not Dick Cheney.
Country of which?  Certainly no other country but our own.

Sending our troops into harms way may be GWB's way of getting his
rocks off.  But our troops are not in Iraq to stroke GWB's ego, or
anybody else's ego.

GWB had his own reason(s) for sending troops to Iraq.  But those
reason(s) are not the same as a soldier's reason(s) for being there.

Duty.  Honor.  Country.  In that order.

That is why our soldiers serve.

Most vets refuse to talk about their experiences
in war, regardless of the war they fought in.

Why would veterans of this or any other war be any different?

Once we leave Iraq, Iraqis will do what Iraqis do best.
They will be Iraqis, doing things in their own special way.
After all, it is their country.  And they will do with it
what they want, how they want, and when they want.

The only thing we are doing by being in Iraq is preventing
Iraqis from doing things when they want.  And getting a lot
of American soldiers killed in the process.  Along with
quite a few Iraqis.

Most Iraqis will remain in Iraq long after we have left.  Just as
most Vietnamese remained in Vietnam long after we left.  We are just
passing through Iraq, as so many conquerors had done so before.  And
each time, the conqueror left and the Iraqis stayed.

You cannot put a country in a straight jacket and expect everything
to remain the same.  Countries do not work that way.  And yet, that
is what GWB expects.

You also cannot put the world in a straight jacket and expect everything
to remain the same.  The world does not work that way.  And yet, that is
exactly what GWB expects.

Yesterday Afghanistan.
Today Iraq.
Tomorrow Iran.
Then onward to North Korea.
And China.
And only God (or Bush) knows where else.
