     Did Janis make the substitution as ZC1 as you are telling people
or did she do so as administrator of Filegate? Although you have stated
that it doesn't matter. In actual fact it very much does. Have you asked
Janis or are you telling people how YOU think it is and what you would
like them to hear? If Janis took the action as ZC1 then I might tend to
agree with you. But it would appear that she acted as a Filegate admin
when the action was taken. Did she make an effort to make people aware
of the action she was about to take or had taken? I as well others here
were made aware by the announcement by Janis. Allowing those concerned
to find alternate feeds for Fidonews.

     Worldwide distribution? Hardly. People were made aware of the action
and provided with information on obtaining alternate feeds for the Fidonews
though more regular channels. I don't see the sinester intent that you are
suggesting. I see an action taken by a Filegate admin based on the policy
of that distribution network. An action in response to the inclusion of
copyrighted material within Fidonews which was taken by the Fidonews editor.
It would seem that this was a reaction that the Fidonews editor should have
considered prior to including copyrighted articles within Fidonews. This
is also the unfortunate result of Michiel playing his copyright games and
using Fidonews as his vehicle to do so. Sadly we all have to suffer the
consequences.

     As you are well aware there are a number of people providing
Fidonews archive resources. I doubt that there was/is any real concern
for the integrity of past issues of Fidonews.

     I would think that anyone with enough interest to care were already
well aware of what had happened, why it happened, and what their options
were.

     Fidonet-terrorism? Give me a break Ward. Bet you took acting classes
in school didn't ya? I figured that since you seem to have a flare for the
dramatic that it was a safe bet.

     JMHO but the whole situation regarding copyrighted material has
dimished the importance and value of the Fidonews. The silly bickering
and fighting. The just as silly Z1 vs Z2 arguing. We're better, no we're
better. Let's get a grip people. The death of Fidonet will result from
just such petty bickering as is currently going on. What is more important?
Our silly games or the future of our network? I would choose the wellfare
of Fidonet myself. How about the rest of ya?
