Hello Björn.

10 Oct 06 08:46, you wrote to me:

Could be. I have also noticed that occasionally too over the
years. I sometimes have a rather simple view of things. A view based
more on simple principles than anything else. It helps avoid the
playing of games that many people seem to like to do. An unfortunate
result is that some people look at that as weakness in me that they
can then exploit.

 BF>>> and
BF>>> as you have been seeing in KOFFEE_KLATCH where we people from
BF>>> Spain, Germany, Sweden and America, are there any zonal hangups?
BF>>> No. Hmmm.....wonder why. Look in COOKING, ASIAN_LINK, WIN95 etc.
BF>>> etc. Are there any zonal hangups. NOOO!!!!!! Then see who
BF>>> partitipate in those echos. Any of those who cause "problems"
BF>>> here? No again. This is the INTERNATIONAL FLAME ECHO where
BF>>> people take their jackets of while entering it and no moderator
 BF>>> can change that.

That is because the participants have respect for the moderator
of the echo. In the case of an echo that has no moderator then the respect
is for the echo itself. That makes people volutarily park their attitudes
at the door upon entering.

JS>> There isn't the same type of behavior in the other echos
JS>> because there is a degree of respect for the echo.

BF> No. It's the respect for other people.

To a degree maybe. I think it is more a degree of respect for the
echo. People I would imagine continue to have the same basic feelings
feelings. But based on the echo they are in they hold those feelings
in check. At least until that can get back to this echo. <g>

JS>> That isn't the case here so people feel free to let it hang out.

BF> Does this people even have one behavior at home and another at work?
BF> Then they have a split personality and should seek help from Dr Phil.

I fear shock therapy might be needed for some. Years ago when I worked
as an electrician I used to ge.. get.. the.. them.. on a da.. daily
basis. <g>

JS>> All/many of the echos are potentially
JS>> international echos. It is how the moderator does his/her job and
JS>> the respect that the moderator has earned.

BF> In KOFFEE_KLATCH for example we don't even have a moderator but
BF> people STILL behave. How about that?
BF> We don't need anyone telling us what to say, do or behave. We can
 BF> think for ourself dammit!!!!

That is good. That is possible with some echos. With others either
because of prior history or the way that it was moderated. The echo
needs direction and maintenance. Also echos where there is a higher
likelyhood of differing opinions and views a moderator is more often
needed.

JS>> That dictates how behaved people in
JS>> the echo will be. This in NOT a flame echo. It has degraded to
JS>> being a flame ech though. Why is that? Could it be because the
JS>> moderator has given up? He has stated that here himself. This is
JS>> a flame echo now because it has been allowed to become one by the
 JS>> absense of a moderator.

BF> This echo more reflect what people let themself to do, not what the
BF> moderator let them to do.

People here let themselves do as they please because they 1) see that
there is a moderator that doesn't care. 2) See that the moderator breaks
his own rules. 3) Lets his personal views show through in his moderating
of the echo.

BF> As I said above, just because I'm a simple
BF> person, why should I be a victim of bullying? I don't think they will
BF> let anyone else bully anyone in their family but bully
BF> others.....that's a total different situation. As I said in the open
BF> letter, do to others what you don't want anyone else do to you. It all
BF> boils down to that famous mirror don't you think?

I know what offends me and how I would prefer to be treated. I try to
respect others and try to treat others as I would prefer to be treated. I
also know though that that will not always be the case. For those that don't
act that way I try not to let that fact make me treat others unfairly. But
being human. That is something that I will always have to work on.
