There is this Frenchman who is going on a cruise. He is single. And so is an
Englisman on the same cruise. So the stewart decides to put them together at a
dinner table. But the Frenchman does not speak English and the Englishman does
not speak French.

Before they start eating the Frenchman extends his hand and says "bon appetit".
Whereupon the Englishman straightens his tie, grabs the hand of the Frenchman
and says "how do you do, my name is Jones". And then they sit and eat.

Next day when they are together at the dinner table once again, the Frenchman
once moder extends his hand and says "bon appetit". The Englishman is a little
puzzled but nevertheless straigthens his tie, grabs the Frenchmans's hand and
says "how do you do, my name is Jones". And then the sit and eat.

The Englishman, puzzled over this asks the stewart why the French introduce
themselves each time they eat. The stewart asks "what exactly did he say?" The
Englishman tells him and the stewart explains it just means "enjoy your meal".

So the third day, the Englishman in an attempt to be polite, extends his hand
to the Frenchman and says "bon appetit".

... whereupon the Frechman straightens his tie, grabs the Englishman's hand and
says "how do you do, my name is Jones."
