JK> I'm talking about "big" big business, Ross, companies that ignore the
JK> environment (or should I say, destroy it),

And these companies are? And how do they get away with it, without being
caught up in the environmental laws that are strictly enforced by the EPA
and OSHA? BTW, both agency's model their enforcement after California's,
which is the strictist agency in all of the 50 states.

JK> companies that don't give a care about the people they hurt (enron
 JK> ring a bell? <g>)

Yeah, but they didn't hurt the environment, they (a few crooks, not the
entire company) stole the retirement fund of their employees.

 JK> ... things like that.

Which had/has nothing to do with the environment.

JK> I'm not saying Hillary is so pro for some of these type businesses,
JK> but she strikes me as being a bit too comfy with some of it.

Not to mention that her husband will also have his hand in it again. The
very thought of that leaves a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths.

JK> You can have big business that doesn't destroy our environment -
 JK> that's for sure...

We already have that. What's the Democrat's plan?

JK> just some companies won't make as much money.

Did you know that the Speaker of the House doesn't/didn't pay business
taxes?

JK> Don't get me started on this country and it's "big business" <bg>..
JK> What do we manufacture in this country these days?

Chevrolets, Fords, Chryslers and Jeeps by Democrat party inspired Union
Labor. And then there are the others that are put together by ordinary
Americans; Toyotas and Nissans. Sony, Hitachi and several other foriegners
have manufacturing plants for electronic entertainment devices in San
Diego alone. In the midwest, there is John Deere, Case and several
American owned farm equipment manufacturers. Kenworth, Peterbuilt and a
few others are making the tractors that pull the American made trailers
that deliver the goods to your local markets. BTW, big business has bought
up a lot of America's farm land and they are producing more food than ever
before in the history of the world. Remember that flight you took to Las
Vegas a while back? I'll bet that was on an American made passenger jet.

JK> Anything you can think of?

:o) See above.

JK> What country was the shirt you wore today manufactured in?

America...of course, I bought it years ago. :o)

JK> (Mine was bought at Macy's but made in Thailand <g>).

See what you get when you patronize big business? :o) I'll bet you could
buy the same shirt from Wal-Mart for a third of the price.

JK> What have we become, I wonder sometimes..

Progress waits for no one. Why pay Union labor to make something, when it
can be made in foriegn countries by child or slave labor? Ever buy
something you thought would be made by a Japanese company, but it turned
out to be made in Korea or Malaysia? Japan learned that trick too.

 >> The Software industry is big business, doesnt Ron work for a software
 >> company?

JK> Sure, Ron works for a company that develops software and the software
JK> is internationally marketed.. but by no means is fptech the size of
JK> the companies I'm talking about. If it was, he'd probably have lost
JK> his job like so many other programmers who's work was shipped
 JK> overseas.. It's sick I think.

There's a lot of companies like that. San Diego has it's own bunch of
companies who do the same thing. Intuit is world famous while some of the
others are not. Gateway used to have an assembly plant in the business
sector just east of where my rental was in Mira Mesa. BTW, there's a lot
of software companies in that business section. You've heard of Skype,
right? Internet telephones? A better version is out there by a San Diego
firm calling itself, Gizmo, but it's not as popular.
