Heh. At least none of the aforementioned have to worry about inflated
prices because of Union labor.

ml> for example, i will not purchase any levi's jeans from walmart any
 ml> more...

You know that you can get them from Goodwill, right? People clean out
their closets and donate them. Just ignore those with made outside of the
USA stickers. They're already broken in so you don't look like a
clod-hopper fresh off the farm.

ml> none of the one's i've gotten in the last 5 years have lasted
ml> longer than 8 to 12 months... NONE...

Then you really should go to Goodwill to buy them...can't beat the price -
$3.99 a pair. Go there on a 'color' day and get them for 99 cents. When
they wear out in a year, throw them away.

Quit buying slims! Buy the huskies or baggy jeans.

ml> what about shirts? how many have you thrown away in the last 10 years
ml> because the cuffs and collars wear out at the edge/fold?

None. I still have shirts that I wore in high school. A really nice
cashmere sweater that I never needed in the 38 years I lived in San Diego,
still fits and is still as nice as it was in 1959.

ml> how long from the time of purchase did they last? i've got a new
ml> sweatshirt on, right now, that i purchased last winter and the cuffs
ml> are already so freyed out as well as the collar and hem that i can't
ml> even wear it out in public...

I've got one that I got from my cousin when she was visiting San Diego,
back in the late 70s. She sewed a white patch with a red capital W on the
front. It's one of my favorites.

ml> so... what say you? have you noticed that clothing just doesn't last
ml> as long as it used to??

Yeah, the new stuff is pretty bad. When we were visiting my mother in
Illinois a few weeks ago, I forgot how cold it could get, so I didn't pack
a heavy jacket. The first night there, it got down to 15f. I went shopping
the next day and found one in a local Farm & Fleet store that I thought
was pretty nice, but it was made in China. It's pretty nice, but I
wouldn't expect it to last if I had to wear it everyday. Fortunately, I
only need it when we go out at night around here in the winter. When it's
cold, that is.
