     Yes. While I have a problem with his performance I do consider Bjorn
to be the moderator. My question was to get a feeling for other people's
opinions on the subject. I know that goes against the Elist concept. But I
think this particular echo was one of a few exceptions to the Elist.

     I think that both concepts can work. Active moderating can work given
the right type of person (Communication skills, temperment, fair minded, Etc.)
doing the moderating. Alternatively the people in an echo can help
in maintaining order. For active moderating to work the users need to have
some degree of respect for the moderator. Regardless of whether they may
like the person or not. As a moderator I have found that communication with
people that I had considered troublemakes was possible and was able to get
them to listen and understand why I needed them to change their behavior.
I didn't attack, insult, or belittle them in public or in private and tried
to treat them evenly and as fairly as I could. I think they reconized that
and respected that even though they may not have liked me. Yes there is
always the chance of someone in an echo that NEEDS to refuse the moderator
at all costs to prove some point. And that can always be a problem. But
not an impossible problem. The solution to that kind of problem can vary
depending on the situation and the person.
