Debian would be your best bet as you are familiar with it.
As per Email you can use Konqueror for easy telnet.

I will if you want burn you my installation DVD disk and you
can have a go at Mandriva 2006. I will post it to you in the
USA. It is a Red Hat type of install and dead easy to use.
Let me know if you can't get a decent debian distro but
you really must work on building a stable main server.
Put slack on the back burner and save it for another
machine. It's important during these troubled times
i know if your access to the fido is being hampered
by your setup or if it is something more sinister.

You appear to be being blocked by this sysop "ChowdaNet"
because i didn't receive this reply at Doc's. I will see 
if Cassell is interfering with inter zonal traffic.

Let me know how you get on. I have been working hard to
find you a suitable feed in zone 3 and zone 2 or even
Canada might be worth a try. You must remember though
except for this echo, if you have been banned from any
echo other than this one you should comply. It is not
fair to embroil the new sysop in past arguments.

Have you seen the new one? I wrote to ED about an ugly aspect
of it. I don't wish to go further into it right now because
i have tremendous respect for Ed Koon.

We can sort something out between us but don't lose your
temper. I think in Thailand they have a saying.
