dosemu was created and has been used to make it possible to run DOS apps where
no Linux port exists. This has been known by many of us for decades.
Your wild guess above, while being partially correct, didn't enlighten anyone
here to anything other than how little you know.

Good grief.

Hahahahahahahaha!!!!

WC>> The Great Escape.
EH>> None of those are really high definition.

I thought you had Slack all configured in 8 hours.
WC> I'm rather sorry most are rather pricey still but perhaps there's a
WC> reason for that?
Just to get more of your money.
WC> The Great Escape is cheap however.
I've seen that so many times. I even watched it at the theater when it first
came out.
WC> UltraViolet serves as my HD media source needs to test video

You could have chosen something worth watching.

WC> Have you seen it?
A long time ago.
WC> It's not in any way a comedic role but quite dramatic and
WC> with a great many subtle but important plot details
WC> and fine acting perfomances.
Walter Mathau was a great actor. He could do just about any role.
WC> I very highly recommend it.
WC> It too is inexpensive at some vendors.
I have a very small and select video library. I have friends who have libraries
with hundreds of DVDs and/or VHS tapes.

EH>> The P-II 466 has 64 meg.
WC> How very nice for you.
It's not for me. I picked it up a while ago to refurb and give to someone who
has no computer.
I have enough computers for myself right now with 2 dual P-III 1GHz systems
(this one and another in my HAM shack with dual video for controlling my
radios), an AMD 1900+ in my bedroom, a Gateway 64bit AMD notebook and an old
Gateway P-II 266 notebook.
I usually have 3 or 4 others in various states of refurbishing to give away to
someone who needs a system, but doesn't have any way of getting one.
I've offered to send you parts for your system, but you are an ungreatful
person and turned me down.
WC> My Gateway P-III has 384 and takes either standard unbuffered or
WC> ECC parity memory in any number of differing size and speed arrangements
of RAM.
ECC RAM doesn't work well with non-ECC memory.
WC> Yes, you can mix them in size and speed just so long as it's
WC> PC100 standard minimum.
Sure you can.
WC> ECC and parity mix as well but it defaults to non-EEC.
Not all ECC RAM plays well with non-ECC.
Both P-III 1GHz systems I have here have 512 ECC PC-133 and neither one will
accept a mix of ECC and non-ECC. I've tried it more than once.
Before you go off trying to act like I might not know what I'm talking about, I
have been building computers for a couple decades. I was building systems back
when you had to install RAM one chip at a time and 640K was considered more
than enough.
WC> Are you not happy for me?
If you're happy for yourself.
WC>>> Xine from the command line I need to setup .xine/config

EH>> Do that.
WC> I shall endeavor to get around to that.
As long as it gives you the will to live.
WC> To bad traffic is off in the Linux echo as this would be more topical

I no longer pull the Linux echo.
WC> I think one of us should soon stop this thread in this echo don't you
WC> think?
I had no intention of it going much further than a couple replies.
WC>> I'd had HD video drivers for Mplayer but alas they were lost and are

EH>> Then how'd you find them in the first place?
WC> That would be through a google keyword search and it took a number

WC> after many failures.
Well, if you did it once, you should be able to do it again.
WC>> I need to import some bookmarks or otherwise look at the

EH>> You do that.
WC> I believe that I shall.
RC>>>> (Microsoft Internet Explorer)
WC>>> I've heard that's a virus - trojan trap and security risk.
WC>>> I'll stick with Lynx, Konqueror and Firebird thanks.
EH>>> Why would anyone want to use Konquerer? What a total kludge!
WC>> Well Ed, perhaps for those difficult days when I've an arthritis
WC>> flareup in my making using the keyboard difficult?
EH>> I do just fine with my arthritis.
WC> I am so very happy for you,
Thank you.
WC>> See then I can use Konqueror to launch my music MP3s
WC>> and my downloaded Jon Stewart comedy political comentaries.
EH>> That's nice.
WC> I think so as well.
WC>> I like the old folk group the Kingston Trio from way back
WC>> when times were simpler.
EH>> Good for you.
WC> It is good for me isn't it?
EH>>> Firefox 2.0 or, better yet Swiftfox 2.0 is much better.
WC>> I have that gui browser application in my software download archive
WC>> however am becoming more familiar with Lynx.
EH>> Good for you.
WC> Ditto above.
RC>>>>> Except that the BBS you are using isnt synchro..
WC>>>> BBBS?
RC>>>> Bingo.
WC>>> I get lucky sometimes.
EH>>> Even a broken claock is correct twice a day using US time.
WC>> What is a claock?
EH>> Oh no, I guess my arthritis is acting up again and I inadvertently hit
EH>> the a when typing "clock."
WC> Typos do occur.
WC> Sometimes it's galloping dementia.
WC> Sometimes it's arthritis.
WC> Sometimes it's dyslexia.
WC> And let us not forget the ever popular common typo.
Don't forget the occasional stroke.
WC>> How do you pronounce claock?
WC>> Is the accent on the first or second sylable of claock?
WC>> Is it pronounced _clay ock_?
EH>> And here you get all up in arms about others commenting on your typos.
WC> They nailed me first.
You have got to be joking. Jumping on your opponant's typos is a regular
passtime for FIDO participants. No one "nailed you first."
WC> Turnabout is fair play.
WC> < insert endless list of cliches here>
WC> Perhaps you can take this to the Crossfire echo where I am persona

Why would I do that?
WC>> See, my search for understanding into new things is driven by

EH>> How does one "effort" to do something?
WC> It's a cunundrum wrapped up in an enigma.
I see.
WC>> Well, that and I've a friendly user interface BBS again and can
WC>> employ an offline reader.
EH>> Good for you.
RC>>>> Its telnet interface takes some getting used to, as it doesnt use
RC>>>> hotkey commands as you observed.
WC>>> I'm becoming a faster study now I've got some slackware experience.
EH>>> Oh yeah, Slack is the bomb, dude!
WC>> Upon this we can agree.
EH>> Yeah... sure... Slack, like all other OSes sucks.
WC> Well I personally haven't tried them all.
Neither have I, but I haven't found one that didn't suck in some unexpected
way.
WC> Now Ed, I've been indulging you and Ross now for a time
WC> as I'd expected to be ambushed here.
You've been indulging *me*?
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!
WC> Why don't you run along and play with your friends
WC> in Crossfire where your great intellect and wisdom may be
WC> better appreciated?
Why don't you go run along and play with your little friends over in POL_INC?
Ed
