     The Elist is thought of and used more here. Although I think that
it isn't as important as it once was. Due in part IMHO to personal attitudes
and Thom's lost of interest in things related to fidonet. I think that people
here look to the Elist as a definition of echo(s) and who is the "listed"
moderator. Otherwise several people can claim to be the moderator.

     A number of the adult guests here would like you to ACT as caretaker
then. Kick some butt if needed. There have been recent attempts of users
trying to moderate other users. All that resulted was statements like
"your not the moderator here" or "I don't have to listen to you". Currently
in most people's eyes you are the person that is considered to be the
moderator. And your attitude is to throw your hands up effectively telling
everyone that they can act as they choose. The current condition of the
Fidonews echo clearly shows that the current way isn't working. People
are not moderating themselves. That may be in part because many although
they consider you the moderator have little or no respect for you as
moderator. I was in a 6th grade classroom recently with my daughter
(During a Dads day) where the teacher had what I would consider a laid
back way of teaching and controling the students. It is a wonder if anyone
learned anything in that class. Running around, yelling, arguing, name
calling. A little control would have help considerably in that class just
as some moderating would help here in this echo. Michiel tells me that you
don't want to waste your time on the impossible. Anything can be impossible
if one hasn't the desire to do something. With your way of moderating you
are effectively shooting yourself in the foot.
