   Who is to say that Phipps is not a real name?   It is obvious that
   Editors Emeriti is not a real name, but that is not the point.

  It differs because RC17 is a person who accepts the moderatorship of
  that echo.   The various Editors Emeriti did not, and presumably had
  no intention of acting as a moderator of Fidonews.

   I doubt that it is.   If I sent a message to Zorch at 2:2/2, how
   would it get to him?  Ditto for Henk and many other previous editors.

  I am aware that Professor Emeritus is a title normally held by a
  retired Professor during his/her lifetime and/or being active in that
  role.   However, my recollection of the discussion that took place
  during the "Editors Emeriti" incident is that Björn included *all*
  former editors in that group collection.  He did that in order to
  honor them, and had no intent of having them perform moderator duties.
  If that is not the case, then I stand corrected.

   The entry of a persons name in one of the Moderator slots implies
   that they are a moderator of that echo.   I don't see how that can
   happen if the person is not consulted on the position and/or has
   previously relinquished the position.

  It was a rule that was formulated with the stated intent of an entry
  in the moderator field in mind.  Not arbitary nor capricious.

  He chose not to cooperate, and to vote with his feet, and thus the
  consequences that might arise from that action, if any,  are his
  responsibility.
