You don't have to tell me...I like peanut butter and have skipped meals in
favor of peanut butter. But, cream cheese and bagels were meant for each
other. Rye bread, peanut butter and cream cheese is pretty good.

A relative of mine worked for 15 years before being diagnosed with
manic-depression. Her disability prevented her from working, which usually
ended when she had an episode of manic, actually re-diagnosed as
Hypo-Manic. She couldn't ply her trade as a school teacher and so, she
applied for SSI, not SSDI. SSI paid more than SSDI.

A doctor can and should determine and advise the SS people of his
situation. If the doctor reccomends that he have an operation, he will
have to show good reason why he would refuse it.

Sure, she was a school teacher, then got sick. She couldn't guarantee that
she'd be able to continue without getting sick again, so they wouldn't
hire her back. She sold Coca Cola machines, high salesperson for two
quarters running, then got sick. Bye bye job. That's when she asked her MD
to help her qualify for SSI...she's been on it ever since.
