I disagree with that, but you go ahead.

When it comes to icy roads, nobody is an experienced driver. Including
Canadians.

Well, nothing is perfect. Not even an expert driver. Which is why there is
such a thing as ABS. In an emergency, every driver's first instinct is to
slam on the brakes to stop the car. Driver's have the same reaction on icy
or wet roads.

Human's are more prone to error than a computer program is.

When the brakes of a car are applied suddenly and locked up, the tires
lose traction with the road and begin to skid. Under these conditions the
rear end becomes unstable and tends to slide from side to side. As the
front brakes lock up, the front tires lose traction and steering becomes
impossible. Therefore, some wheel slip is necessary for front wheel
control.

When tires roll freely making contact with the road, ice or no, this is
known as zero slip. At 100 slip, the wheel is locked and the tire begins
to skid. Most normal braking occurs between these limits. Based on
engineering research, the maximum amount of braking force can be
transmitted in the 8% to 35% range. With this amount of wheel slip, tires
have the best coefficient of friction with the road. Controled by a
computer reading sensors, only ABS can give you this.
