That would be truer if it were applied to someone without the experience
and training required to use it.

First of all, if you're stealth enough to get past the security system
and the dog (not impossible but very unlikely), you would no doubt catch
me off guard.

In which case, I would be very apprehensive of making any overatures of
agression towards the intruder. There's a time to submit and a time to get
even later.

No, I'd be at a disadvanage only until such time as the preditor stops
paying direct attention to me. If that happened to your or Michiel, you
still couldn't do anything about it.

OTH, I have more than one firearm in my home in secret places. Your
version doesn't take into account that I know where they are, how to use
them and have the training and the guts to use them.

Yeup, in your case. But since I'm trained in how to handle that situation
and you're not, my chances of thwarting the intruder are a lot better than
yours.
