Yep.

Lots of people don't know how the legal precedent came about that the IRS
can collect income taxes on tips paid to waiters and waitresses (and
bartenders,
and anybody else that receives such income).  The most famous whore house on
the planet - the Mustang Ranch outside of Reno, Nevada, USA - had maids that
changed the sheets on the beds used by the prostitutes.  The prostitutes would
tip the maids to insure that the sheets were changed quickly when needed.  The
IRS went after those maids for income tax on those tips.  And nobody would rise
to defend a maid that worked in a whore house, so the legal precedent was set.
And the ink wasn't even dry on that precedent when the IRS went after the 
waiters, waitresses, etc. - and those folks were the real targets of the
original
case, but might have been able to mount a successful defense against the IRS.
After the precedent was set, no such defense was possible.

The same tactics are being used by the gun control folks, the anti-tobacco
folks,
and most anybody else with an agenda.  First get the precedent, then apply it
to everything else; there's even a name for it - creeping legislation.  And
that's
why you see some of us fighting them every step of the way.

Today here in Iowa the legislature is considering a complete ban of the use of
tobacco products in all public buildings (i.e. every retail business and office
building
in the state), despite the fact that such use is perfectly legal.  I oppose
this sort of
thing - and I've never been a smoker.  A business owner should be able to
decide
for him/herself whether or not to allow smoking on their premises (my present
employer
does not and a former employer did not allow smoking on their property).
