==========================================

BF>JB> Polls schmolls. Wonder what Frank Luntz is up to these days?

BF> Who's Frank Luntz?

I think I described him in a previous post but I won't go digging for it.
Basically he's a fellow who creates polls for places. He openly admits that
you can get any answer you want from an individual based purely on how you ask
questions. And he demonstrated this on the street himself. He basically shows
that polls are a joke and that he's practically a fraudster.

But then who is still using Frank for polls these days, regardless of his own
admission to being able to manipulate results so easily? Fox News, of course.
They even bring Frank himself on there to talk about the polls, and he speaks
as if they're some sort of factual data that represents the population's
opinions. It's an utter joke. I think MSNBC used to use him, but then they
sued him for misrepresentation or something.

BF> Before we had a cookie called Negro Balls but now we have to say
BF> Chocolate Balls.

That reminds me of a joke on South Park, where Chef was selling "Chocolate
Salty Balls" at a festival, despite being a black man himself.

Something of interesting note is that the creators of South Park are actually
Republicans themselves, which I found fairly hard to believe when I first heard
about it, considering some of the content they've done. But even when they do
make an episode that cracks on a Democrat, like Al Gore trying to prove the
existance of manbearpig (making fun of his desire to prove global warming of
course), it's funny anyway. And that's the kind of politics I'm fine with,
biased or not.

BF> If I had a real Internet connection instead of this with my cell as a
BF> slow modem I would heve checked them out but don't expect him to do it.

There's something about being able to use a cell phone as a modem which I've
always found pretty awesome, since you can take it practically anywhere.
Downside is, as you pointed out, generally poor speed, and fees. There are
some "high-speed" data networks here in America these days, but I've never used
any of them personally. Some say AT&T's network, which the iPhone uses, is no
better than dial-up.

BF> If my memory serves Roy have been editing the Wiki himself.

I don't bother trying to edit it personally anymore because of all the "edit
nazis", who patrol certain articles and think your contributions aren't good
enough or need modification or some other silly reason to pull moderator on you
and delete your addition. And in the examples I'm referring to it wasn't even
an important article, it was for some TV show series or something. Looking in
the discussion area I remember seeing disagreements between the moderator and
people that had wanted to add other stuff themselves, but what's one to do
about it except just let the baby have his article?

That's not always the case of course, and I still love Wikipedia, but it's
happened to me a couple times, and other folks I know a time or two, so I just
don't bother to edit.

BF> I can see that the climate have changed over the centuries but why help
BF> it over the limit so there will be no turning back.

That's my take on it; even if everyone turns out to be totally wrong, what's
the worst you've done? Made the air cleaner? Made cars run quieter and more
efficiently? Saved some money in the long run? The polution in many cities
alone is enough to cause health problems.

BF> The weather in Thailand was very unusual too at this time of year with
BF> rain that normally shouldn't happend and now is the first time this
BF> season we have snow that usually should be here in dec. When New Year
BF> Eve have the same temp as Midsummer there really is something wrong.

I'm sure that your and my cases of odd weather for various times of the year
are far from isolated incidents.

BF>JB> Invited or not, when all you have to do is pretty much walk across
BF>JB> the border, you aren't keeping them out. No more than we're keeping
BF>JB> Mexicans out.

BF> And you never will.

We might if they get that huge fence finished that they're talking about. I
personally have mixed feelings about it. I don't want us turning into Germany,
putting up almost symbolic barriers to keep people out. Yet at the same time,
obviously we do need some way to prevent people from coming into the country.

I still feel that electronic fenceless methods would work the best, as long as
border patrol had the budget to make it work, in order to get all the equipment
and hire all the personnel they needed to do the job. But from what I've heard
so far, the places where they did set up electronic measures are failing,
likely because of lack of funds and personnel to catch everything.

BF> If it isn't on Fox it has never happend and if it is on Fox everyone else
BF> is wrong. Haven't you learned anything?

I'm a slow learner, apparently.
