By "terminal" I mean the device - hardware or emulated - that make the text
visible to the user.

I never pretended that you did. I merely said that you have control over how
your messages look when they are inserted into fidonet. Others manage to to it,
so why can't you? Why are you afixed to use a bbs for interfacing with fidonet
in the first place? Why not use a sysop editor ( the one that Werner call a nod
editor) like Golded er MsgEd that directly writes to the message base?

Your words, not mine. Smart is in the eye of the beholder. Complient is in the
specs.

No, it does not allow anything at the aplication level. What it allows is for
applications to *store it locally* in any way they want. What it does not allow
is to insert it into the network in any way they want.

Software that inserts message into thge network that do not conform to the
standard for *.PKT as documented in FTS-0001 are non complient.
